Anderson Water Damage

Accessibility

People often reach this site during a stressful situation, sometimes on a phone, sometimes with a screen reader or keyboard alone. We want the phone number, the guidance, and the navigation to work in all of those cases.

Our aim

We build and review this site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We use that as our practical benchmark because it is the most widely recognized measure of web accessibility.

In 2024 the U.S. Department of Justice adopted WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the technical standard for web content under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which applies to state and local government entities. Anderson Water Damage is a private business, so that rule does not apply to us directly. We follow the same standard because it is the right benchmark for making a site usable, not because we are covered by it.

Accessibility work here is ongoing rather than finished. We do not claim certification, and we do not claim that every page meets every criterion at all times.

What is in place

  • Keyboard access. Every link, button, menu, and expandable section can be reached and operated with a keyboard, in an order that follows the page. A visible focus outline shows where you are.
  • Skip link. A "Skip to main content" link is the first item on each page, so keyboard and screen reader users can bypass the header and navigation.
  • Landmarks and headings. Pages use real header, navigation, main, and footer landmarks, with one H1 per page and headings that descend in order, so screen reader users can navigate by structure.
  • Descriptive links. Link text describes its destination rather than relying on "click here" or a bare URL.
  • Images. Photographs carry alternative text describing what the image shows. Decorative graphics and icons are hidden from assistive technology so they do not add noise.
  • Contrast. Body text, headings, and the phone call buttons are checked against the 4.5:1 contrast ratio for normal text and 3:1 for large text and interface components.
  • Text sizing and reflow. Text is set in relative units, so browser zoom and larger default font sizes work. Pages reflow to a single column on narrow screens without horizontal scrolling.
  • Works without JavaScript. The navigation, the frequently asked questions, and all page content remain readable and usable if scripts do not load.
  • Motion. Animation is minimal, and reveal effects respect the operating system setting for reduced motion.
  • Touch targets. Buttons and the fixed call bar are sized for comfortable tapping on a phone.
  • Language. Each page declares its language, so screen readers pronounce the content correctly.
  • No instructions that rely on color alone. Where something matters, the page says so in words rather than pointing at a color or a shape.
  • No autoplaying sound. Nothing on this site plays audio or video on its own.

If we add tables or media later

The site currently has no data tables, no audio, and no video. If we add them, a table will use real header cells so a screen reader can announce rows and columns correctly, and any video or audio we publish will carry captions or a transcript.

How we check

Alongside automated checks, we review pages by hand: tabbing through each page with a keyboard, confirming heading and landmark structure, checking color contrast values, viewing pages at narrow widths and at 200 percent zoom, and reading the page with images and scripts disabled.

Known limits

Some pages link to third-party sites, such as published cost research. We do not control the accessibility of those sites. If a link takes you somewhere you cannot use, tell us and we will describe the information over the phone.

If something does not work for you

The fastest route to a person is the phone. Call 765-615-4599 and we will answer your question directly, whatever the website is doing.

To report a barrier, email info@andersonwaterdamage.com with the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. That detail helps us reproduce the problem. We aim to respond within five business days and to fix confirmed issues as quickly as we reasonably can.

Alternative formats

If you need information from this site in another format, such as read aloud over the phone or sent as plain text, ask us and we will provide it at no charge.
